GATE-U: Gifted and Talented

GATE-U stands for the program for Gifted And Talented students in Evergreen United.

Our Mission

The mission of the GATE-U program is to inspire, challenge, and support academically gifted children through unique educational experiences tailored to the needs of the gifted child. To provide an environment where connections and friendships can be fostered, and parents share experiences and knowledge unique to the gifted child.

The mission of the GATE-U Prep program is to provide for all children, gifted or otherwise, an "educate the whole child" experience focused on Math, English, Sports, Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Creativity. To build "expertise" with personalized step-by-step learning plans focused on building core competency with expert teachers and coaches.

Who is eligible to join?

GATE-U Prep Program: All students, grades K through 8, gifted or otherwise, who are residents of the Evergreen area of San Jose or attending a school within Evergreen. 

GATE-U Program: Gifted students, grades 2 through 8, who are residents of the Evergreen area of San Jose or attending a school within Evergreen. Students who have received a high percentile on “total math” or “total reading/verbal” on an intelligence test. Curriculum

We offer an after-school with hands-on learning in small groups. The subjects are not usually found in the school curricula and often are unique opportunities and are taught by experts in the area. Curriculum includes activities in:
